I like this piece! It has a stylistic feel that I personally enjoy! To improve it, I would have used a variation in stroke size to give it a fuller and more dynamic touch. I like the lightsaber, though there are a few issues with how you set the layers and what not, nothing that can't be fixed in future art works! I definitely see potential and I hope you continue to learn and improve! :)

Anti-Gog responds:

Thanks. I appreciate the input. :)

And you're only 15? Much respect! The foreshortening is a bit funky, but the overall piece is stunning! I like the yellow eyes and blue feathers, how they stand out from the greyscale of the rest of the piece. I love your art lol :)

CatgeckoMironov responds:

hahah! i was fourteen when i drew it.
maybe I subconsciously grew overnight, because when i had just made it, i thought it was the epitome of perfection XD

yellow is for sadness with him so i'm kinda confused why i drew that. :/

and thank you! thank you so very much!

Ah, concept art is literally one of my favorite things to look at! This creature it gnarly! I like the mixture of claws, fur, spines, a beak, and what appears to be amphibious feet at the back! I also like all the veins. This is definitely neat and quite intimidating, lovely work!

CatgeckoMironov responds:

thank you so much! XD
veins are just so very fun to draw, i can hardly ever pass up an opportunity to do so.

Again, a beautiful piece! I like the greyscale that you're working in, it definitely draws out the darks and the lights and gives almost a peaceful yet demanding atmosphere. I wish I had half the talent you do! Fantastic work, I can't wait to see the finished outcome :)

CatgeckoMironov responds:

thanks again

unfortunately, it's gonna take a while XD. I've been distracted by a major commission.

Wow!! I love the creativity behind this creature, it's very lanky and mysterious! I like the mix, it works very nicely. I also like the style that you drew it in! This piece gets my imagination running, thinking of what other types of creatures would exist in the ecosystem this beast lives in! Very well done :)

CatgeckoMironov responds:

in this case, that would be a bit impossible. genetic strains derived from preexisting species do naively exist in my world, but rarely are they pure.
the magic system of my world revolves around an alien consciousness being capable of forming a body to house itself in and control the physical world through.
many of those artificial bodies, or their descendants are what make up the ecosystem in the end. because the specific organisms are created for specialized traits, or enhanced beyond what would be normally allowed by natural selection (due to bypassing clumsy intermediate forms in evolution) the ecosystem itself is far more vicious, quick-changing and competitive. additionally, new further-developed strains are being introduced all the time.

it's more complex than that, (there are also individual "alien" minds to account for) but that's the general gist.

I have a different work in which there's none of that mumbo jumbo, but it's quite different overall. and i haven't drawn anything from it yet.

Personally, the forehead looks a bit wonky, it doesn't seem firm, it seems a bit too thin and.... for lack of a better word, mushy lol. The ear also seems a bit off to me, I can't seem to put my finger on it, though. Perhaps the edges and/or shading are a bit too sharp?
But it's overall very beautiful!! You did a fantastic job for using the default brushes in PS! I don't think I'd have the patience to complete something this detailed and meticulous, very well done! You did a good job of extending the image, I can't find any seam. Love this :)

Loooove this!! I adore the perspective regarding the neck and head! The general line of motion is awesome, the curvature of the body compared to the opposite curvature of the top of the waterfall shifts your eyes around the piece.
I do agree with other reviews on the landscape, it's a bit odd and doesn't flow as much as it could. I'd also like to see less detail or less sharpness in the water and landscape for a more dramatic effect of distance. Overall, I love it, well done!

Nievaris responds:

I am sorry that my response took me soo long. Thanks a lot for your words and your critique :) Also for pointing out the thing of the lines of the dragon and the waterfall, I didn't realize it at all, thehe.

I looooove everything Marvel, Star Wars, DC, and LOTR! I'm generally addicted to action movies. I also like to draw and listen to music. I shoot competitive trap, ride horses, and hunt (both bow and gun).
